EVGENNII WORKSHOP

EVGENII POKIDAEV

POTTERY IN PRACTICE: Shape, Skill, and Technique
January 11-24, 2026

Join ceramic artist Evgenii Pokidaev for a hands-on, 10-day deep dive into wheel throwing. With over 15 years of experience, Evgenii teaches pottery as both a precise craft and a path to authentic artistic expression. His approach blends technical clarity with creative freedom — helping beginners build a solid foundation, and guiding experienced potters beyond their limitations.

Through focused instruction, live demos, and personal feedback, participants will explore forms from simple cylinders to complex composite shapes. Learn to throw up to 6 kg of clay, trim with purpose, and refine your technique with confidence.

This is more than a workshop — it’s a shift in how you understand and practice the art of making.

TUITION: USD $2200 inclusive of all studio materials, glazes and firings, catered lunches, welcome dinner, and excursions around the island. We will assist in making recommendations for bookings for nearby hotels, bungalows or home-stays in convenient proximity to Gaya studio (accommodation is not included in tuition).

WORKSHOP SCHEDULE -

Over 10 intensive days, participants will build a strong technical foundation in wheel-throwing — starting with cylinders and core forms, then progressing to shaping techniques, narrow-neck vessels, closed and composite forms. You'll learn to work with larger amounts of clay (up to 6 kg), refine trimming methods, and attach handles with precision. The workshop also includes creating pieces for bisque firing, glazing and finishing, and personalized demonstrations tailored to each student’s goals. Whether you're a beginner or experienced potter, this course is designed to help you break through to the next level.
