PRIVATE STUDIO RENTAL: Private studio space dedicated to self-directed making

Semi-private studio spaces dedicated to makers who are ready to work independently, at their own pace, and on their own schedule within a creative and enthusiastic clay community. This is an opportunity to dig deeper into your clay practice, tackle a specific project, or experiment with new ideas.  Studio rental is available for a minimum one-month (4 week) stay so that projects can commence and be completed within that time frame. Beyond this time period, rent will be pro-rated.

  • Studio space, including hand building table, a potters wheel, and ample storage shelves for works-in-progress. Access to studio tools and equipment in the main studio when it does not interfere with an international workshop in progress.

  • Access 7 days a week: Come everyday, or whenever you can within the block of rental time, regardless of whether or not there’s a class or workshop going on in the main studio. Suggested curfew, 10 pm.

  • Free-flow Studio Stoneware: reclaim what you do not want fired, pay only for what you finish and fire, at the same rate as for classes: 100 Rp/g. **Please Note: no free-flow stoneware nor works in progress may leave the studio.**

  • Please note: only Gaya clay bodies may be used in the studio, and no outside-sourced clay bodies will be fired in Gaya kilns.

  • Use of 24 studio glazes.

  • Renters are responsible for thoroughly cleaning their own work area in general, and especially at the end of their rental period.

FIRINGS:

BISQUE and Cone 10 GLAZE firing usually once per month, so that works made during rental weeks can be finish-fired and available to bring home in a timely fashion. Firings must be coordinated at the start of rental period and the schedule adhered-to.

**(All pieces must be at least bisque-fired to take home.  All pieces must be removed from the studio by the renter immediately after glaze firing. Gaya will not store works for longer periods.)
