WHITE GOLD TO WEAR: the design and making of porcelain jewelry

Two weeks dedicated to the creation of fine jewelry in porcelain: a ductile, precious and resistant material. This workshop will be an opportunity to learn many different methodologies, to be used also on large objects or sculptures in your own studio. Luca Tripaldi will introduce a variety of making techniques: how to project a porcelain jewel, different approaches of assembling to get various design and style of necklaces, many ways to make the porcelain element, how to decorate the surfaces with texture and how to valorize the beauty and sensuality of the unglazed porcelain clay body. You will learn how to make porcelain rings and how to obtain reliable sizes and to prevent the warping in the firing. He will approach the slip casting technique to make very light porcelain elements and how to make small plaster molds in two parts. Luca Tripaldi will be happy to share his tips and tricks to make light and delicate organic natural shapes avoiding little cracking of the surfaces. Two full days will be dedicated to assembling the porcelain elements done with different techniques and materials to make necklaces, bracelets and earrings and the great possibility to visit a silver smith workshop where to learn how to make to your self some silver elements.
